Am I covered immediately?
To be eligible for immediate coverage, you will have to get in touch with one of our Customer Care agents to clarify with you before taking the policy out.
How much will my excess be?
How much your excess will be will depend on the type of policy you take out. One of the many benefits of our policy is that you can reduce your excess to 0 if you report a claim within 24 hours, use our approved repairers, and are able to provide the registration number, vehicle make and model of any third party involved, along with their names and any witness details where applicable.
Can I use my no claims bonus?
Yes, you will be able to use your taxi no claims bonus (NCB) with us. With our policy, we will provide discounts for up to 14 years on taxi policies. However, we don’t accept private car NCB, or any other form of it.
What vehicles can be insured as a taxi?

Do you offer taxi fleet insurance?
Unfortunately, currently all of our policies are for single vehicles only.
Who will my insurance policy be with?
Your insurance policy will be with La Parisienne Assurances.
When can I expect my insurance documents?
If you choose to have them emailed these will be sent in the 24 hours following the set-up of your policy, however if you need these urgently, please notify our Customer Care agent, who will send these immediately. Alternatively, you can request to receive your documents via post within 3-5 working days.
Do you offer additional benefits or policy add-ons with taxi insurance?
Complete cover is sold as an add-on to the standard taxi policy. Breakdown (BD) cover is sold separately to the taxi policy and runs alongside this (you can only have BD if you have got a taxi policy with Freeway). As standard, all of our Comprehensive policies include legal expenses, windscreen covers and £10 million public liability.
Do you offer replacement vehicle cover?
A replacement vehicle will be provided in the event of a Non-Fault incident where we are able to confirm the costs of this can be recovered from the third party insurer involved. With effect from 1st January 2020 we are unable to offer this cover in the event of a Fault incident
Do you offer insurance for new taxi drivers?
Yes. As long as you meet our criteria, we will offer insurance.
What is Replacement Vehicle Cover?
Replacement Vehicle Cover costs £65 per year. It is important to note, all claims need to be notified within 14 days of the incident occurring.

Can I drive other cars using my taxi insurance policy?
Unfortunately, no, as currently we only offer policies for single car users.
What evidence of no claims bonus do I need?
Once your previous taxi policy has expired, your previous insurance company will send you your NCB proof, which we will need you to send on to us. We can accept it either electronically, or via a hardcopy. We will also try and contact your previous company if possible, to verbally confirm the NCB.
Will my policy renew automatically?
No, the policy will only be renewed if you complete the process over the phone.
Can I add additional drivers to my policy?
You can only add an additional driver if this is your spouse/common law/civil partner and they live at the same address.

Do you offer discounts for younger drivers?
We do not offer specific discounts for young drivers, each price given considers all rateable factors for the driver, so each price will differ.
What are the differences between private hire and public hire insurance?
Public hire vehicles are taxis that you can flag down on the street without the need to pre-book, such as the common black cab. Whilst private hire vehicles are those that must be booked in advance, including Uber vehicles.
Often, but not always, public hire insurance is the more expensive of the two. This is because public hire taxi drivers often must rely on being in the right place, at the right time, and tend to operate in busy city centres.
Do I need a DVSA qualification prior to getting taxi insurance?
You may, depending on the rules of your local council.
Can I insure my taxi for personal use?
Yes, our taxi insurance will cover you for social, domestic, and pleasure.

Will taking out taxi insurance cost more than car insurance?
On average, yes, as taxis travel many more miles in comparison to most cars, and there is the increased risk of personal injury claims from passengers.
Does taxi insurance cover the same things as car insurance?
Yes it does. The cover we offer will also cover you for public liability, this is for your protection when there are passengers in your taxi.
How do I know if I need taxi insurance?
It is a legal requirement for any taxi driver to have taxi insurance for the safety of both the driver and the passengers.
Can I get taxi insurance if I want to be a part-time driver?
Yes, but if you have a second job alongside taxi driving, you must make us aware of this.
